PROMENADE “Platypus poetry”

PROMENADE surgen en Cornellá de Llobregat (Barcelona) allá por 2001 orientandose en principio al rock electrónico. En sus primeros meses de vida, quedan finalistas en el concurso DYCrectos y ganan el Concurso de Rock de Cornellá. Actuan en Zaragoza, Valencia, Málaga, Granada, Murcia y Madrid además de por toda Catalunya y editan su primer larga duración “Do you like it?”.

El tiempo pasa y PROMENADE, o lo que es lo mismo: Agus (voz), Richard (guitarra), Sergio (bajo) y Tom (batería y coros); y evolucionan, van dejando a un lado su vertiente más electrónica y se decantan hacia un indie-rock de clara vocación británica; que permite jugar a descubrir las fuentes de las que han bebido.

Mientras tanto van compartiendo escenario con artistas y grupos tan dispares como Fangoria, Conchita, Javier Gurruchaga o Second.

Indie-rock maduro con letras personales

Y así hasta llegar a su segundo disco “Platypus Poetry”. Un trabajo maduro, con letras muy personales, escritas por Agus, que reflejan sus estados de ánimo, sentimientos personales y su particular mundo interior; con una instrumentación potente y efectiva que firmaría cualquier banda de prestigio reconocido.

Lose Control, una canción de “fervor sexual”

De “Platypus Poetry” sale como primer single la canción “Lose Control”. Su autor la define como “es una canción de fervor sexual y devoción a la belleza femenina. Narra, sin mencionarlo, la Pasión de Jesucristo en Jerusalén, para comparar dicho fervor al culto a la belleza femenina como canalizadora del universo, y al fervor que provoca el ver una mujer moviendo sus caderas. Solamente el amor nos salvará, pero solamente el amor nos hará también pecar. Lose Control también evoca en cierto modo la dualidad que provoca esta belleza femenina, capaz de salvarnos y de hacernos pecar. La lujuria del tema llega en la parte final, cuando los dos protagonistas de la historia se pegan el festín...”.

A modo de concesión a su etapa más electrónica, el CD incluye un interesante remix de Duffer & Dotfive de “Lose Control”.

De “Platypus Poetry” también llama la atención el diseño de la portada hecha por Sergio (bajista) y Carole Edet con un omnipresente “Platypus”, ornitorrinco para entendernos, “Un ornitorrinco es un animal único, extraño y de una belleza que parece ser el capricho de otro Dios, tal y como dijo Charles Darwin al verlo por primera vez. Sin embargo algunos de los primeros científicos que lo estudiaron dejaron caer injustamente que podría tratarse de una especie de broma genética. Para completar el cuadro tiene algo que pocos saben: es venenoso. Nunca PROMENADE se sintió tan identificado con algo o alguien”.

PROMENADE “Platypus poetry”

PROMENADE rise and born in Cornella de Llobregat (Barcelona) in 2001 guided in principle to the electronic rock. In its first months of life, are finalists at the DYCrectos Rock Contest and are winners at the Cornella Rock Contest. They play in Zaragoza, Valencia, Malaga, Granada, Murcia and Madrid in addition to Catalonia and released their first LP "Do you like it?".

As time passes, PROMENADE, or what is the same: Agus (vocals), Richard (guitar), Sergio (bass) and Tom (drums, vocals) and evolve, they leave aside their more electronic side by opting indie-rock into a clear british vocation that allows play to discover the sources from which they drank.

And so on down to their second album "Platypus Poetry" A mature work, with very personal lyrics, written by Agus, that reflect their moods, feelings and particular inner world with a powerful and effective implementation would sign any band of recognized.

Lose Control, a “sexual passion song”

“Lose Control" is the first hit single from “Platypus Poetry”. The author defines it as "is a song of sexual passion and devotion to feminine beauty. Tell about, without mentioning it, the Passion of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem, to compare the passion of the cult of female beauty as channeling the universe, and the passion that causes a woman to see her hips moving. As a concession to his electronic age, the CD includes an interesting remix of “Lose Control” by Duff & Dotfive.

In "Platypus Poetry" also draws attention to the design of the cover by Sergio (bass) and Carole Edet with a pervasive Platypus. “A platypus is a unique animal, and a strange beauty that seems to be the whim of another God, as Charles Darwin said when she saw him first. However, some of the early scientists who studied it unfairly dropped could be a kind of genetic joke. To complete the picture has something that few know: it is poisonous.
